Spode Dinnerware

From it's beginnings in the 1770's, Spode has stood for excellence and quality.

Josiah Spode's development of blue underglaze printing on earthware, help develop England's dinnerware industry.

Later on Spode went on to develop the formula for fine bone china and as a result make Spode a name associated with fine China.

The business continued to grow and prosper as the quality of thier fine bone china set the standard for all of England. That quality continues today as Spode remains a leader in fine china and dinnerware. Learn more about Spode's history.

Today's dinner patterns represent the best of England with elegance and beauty. Over the years Spode has expanding it's dinnerware patterns to include holiday Christmas, Woodlands, Hunt, and garden themes. In total, Spode has produced more than 200 different dinnerware patterns. Featured Spode Patterns:

Spode Albany
Originally produced in 1813, under the name Gloucester (which it maintained until 1998) this printed pattern was produced as a replacement pieces for imported Chinese porcelian.

The Gloucester pattern has had many color variations including Green, Red, and Pink. The latest color variation of blue and yellow came out in 1999 and that is when the nae was changed to Albany.

Spode Blue Italian
The dinnerware has been in continous production since 1816 and remains a best seller. The Spode Blue Italian pattern has been featured on plates, tableware, cookware, and giftware. For years there has been a mystery as to whether the Italian scene featured on the Blue Italian dinnerware came from, recently it was noted the the design on the dinnerware is a composite representing various regions and places in Italy, but there is no physical location that contains of the element of the Blue Italian design at on location. Rather that the designer of this pattern was a traveler through the country and these were the images to best represent Italy.

Spode Blue Room Collection
The blue room collection is a grouping of several patterns that date back to the late 1700's. These dinnerware patterns were inspired by the Chinese.
